Minister for Roads and Highways must be charged. - Johnnie Hughes

Among all the things happening in the country at the moment, the 2022 National budget remains the most talked about. According to the budget that was planned to take effect in 2022, Road tolls will be abolished and replaced with Electronic Money (E-Money) Levy applicable to mobile money transactions and remittances. Bank transfers are excluded from this initiative.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwesi Amoako-Attah instructed that the Road tolls policy should take effect immediately. As instructed all toll booths had stopped work in the country till date. Hawkers definitely were unhappy about the decision and pleaded for a reversal of the policy. The speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin has equally ordered for the reversal of the policy.

On TV3 Newday, the Johnie's Bite segment, Johnnie Hughes, accused the Minister for Roads and Highways of causing financial loss to the state i.e abolishing the road tolls which served as revenue for the country. A good number of the population agree with him. What do you think?
